In December 2010 Google announced that websites and Adsense accounts that host copyright violations will be excluded and banned from the Adsense program.
For this reason we now recommend the following.
- On the violators page find an Adsense Ad
- Click on the Google logo in the bottom right
- Go to the bottom of the page this takes you to, when it asks about your issue, select the ‘Website’ option
- Check Copyrighted Content Violation
- In the Details box paste a DMCA notice or, give your name, your website URL, the date you published the article, also give the exact URL of the copyright violation.
Add your email address in the relevant box and then send it off. This will not help you get the content removed, but it will help get the content thief receive an Adsense ban.
Secondly you will need to submit a DMCA notice, this is what will get the stolen content taken down. you can find this on our DMCA Template page.
Fill in the relevant tools and send it to the contact on the website.
If you cannot find the website owner visit the WHOIS tool. You can find two useful things here. First you can find a contact domain, however you can also find the hosting company under the title ‘Name Servers’. You may need to use the WHOIS tool to track down teh actual host too, but they are legally obliged to process a DMCA, and they will if they do not want to get shut down.
