With so many people reaching for any form of motivation to lose weight, I thought this is as good a time as any to provide the facts on obesity.  Regardless of how fat you are, fat is fat and it is bad!  Read on to get the wake up call you need to get motivated!

When determining your ideal weight you should first know your bone size.  Although I am 5′ 10″ female, I have a small bone structure and therefore feel most comfortable weighing on the low end of my height range.  The size of your bone structure is vital to know as other wise you may tend to think its okay to weigh the heaviest amount per your height and weight chart when it is not.

To determine your ideal weight you must know if you have a small, medium or large bone structure.  My favorite way to determine this is by measuring the elbow.  I find the wrist method to be a bit easier but less accurate as many people measure the wrong area of the wrist while the bones of the elbow are unmistakable in terms of exact location and therefore your true bone size.

The Elbow Method

  1. Stand up and raise your arm in front of you to a 90 degree angle until it forms the shape of a backwards L.
  2. Locate the two bones protruding, there will be an upper bone and a lower bone at the bend of the elbow. Once you find them turn your palm to the right and touch both joints with calipers, remove the calipers and measure the distance between the two points, write this number down.
  3. Use the chart below to determine your bone structure size.

Height Chart

  • Heights of  5’ 2” or less with an elbow width of 2 ¼ – 2 ½ inches equals a medium build, measurements lower than this are small framed and those higher are large framed.
  • Heights of 5’ 3” – 5” 10” with an elbow width of 2 ¼ – 2 ¾ equals a medium frame, those lower a small frame while those higher a large frame.  Note: remember I mentioned I’m 5’10”?  The distance between my elbow joints is 1 ¾ inches and I there fore have a small frame, understand?  Great!
  • Heights of 5’ 11” and up with an elbow width of 2 ½ – 2. ¾ equals a medium frame, those lower a small frame while those higher a large frame.

Now that you understand your body frame size you can determine your real ideal weight.

3. 2 of 3 Chinese are expected to be overweight within twenty years.

4. Americans are considered to be obese are at a rate of 27%

5. At least 325,000 deaths per year are attributed to obesity.

6. World wide 750 million people are considered over weight.

7. World wide 300 million people are considered obese.

8. The weight loss market earns over 61 billion dollars per year.

There is many a reason why you should get serious about losing weight.  If you suffer from any one of these conditions you have reason enough to be highly motivated and start (not only) eating healthy and eating less today.  Your body is not a trash can and now’s the time to take out the trash in your life and get motivated!

Health Related Weight Lose Needs;

Note: Belly fat, to any degree, is a hazard to the health of your heart and the leading cause of heart attacks.  If you can reach down and fill your hands with ANY excess fat you need to eliminate that starting NOW!  Fat around the mid section is dangerous and kills.

1. Obesity

3. Various forms of cancer – concentrate on healthy nutrients!

4. Type 2 diabetes

5. Diabetes

6. Coronary heart disease

7. High blood pressure

8. Asthma

The other reasons you will find motivation to lose weight is for the sake of appearances.  It’s no secret that your appearance plays a huge role in success in all areas of life. There are areas of your body you may have conditioned yourself to overlook and yet you should know others see you in an honest light.  There are no good excuses as people way into the golden years are proving you can be tone fit and trim, getting old is a weak excuse to be lazy.  Remember this; lazy is a disease that spreads over takes and kills you.

The moral is you’re really not helping yourself by shoving your mind full of lies. Do you suffer from any of the following?

  • Look good at a wedding, the bride, bridesmaid, parent of bride or groom

  • Keep fit during pregnancy
  • Lose weight after pregnancy
  • prevent rapid weight gain during pregnancy
  • prevent pregnancy stretch marks
  • irregular digestion and discomfort

More Good Reasons to Lose Weight

Improve your personal life;

  • Stop getting sick so often and feeling irregular.
  • Relieve back and neck pain
  • Stop inner thigh chafing
  • Become able to take part in athletics and sports
  • End sore swollen feet, walk correctly and with ease
  • Stop heavy breathing when doing simple task like going up the stairs
  • Get dressed with ease, comfort and satisfaction
  • Stop the obesity trend in your family
  • End your children’s weight issues
  • Set a good example for your children
  • Keep your job status
  • Increase you chances of getting that promotion
  • Stop feelings of shame
  • Eliminate threat of depression and on and on the reasons go!
