About the Owner
It seems to me that one of the most important things I have to do with This is Freelance is remain a part of the community, push forward with my ambitions for this site, and get to know every single writer on here.
This might seem a little ambitious, but I want everyone on this site to feel as if this is their home base for article writing, and for talking about the Internet world.
So first off, My name is Oliver, but most people call me Oli, I am an Englishman, originally from Selby, and I moved to York when I was 19. This decision was definitely the right move in my eyes. From York I traveled around a lot of Europe, spent many a night down ‘the local’ and spent a lot of my time improving my knowledge of the online world, particularly SEO.
It was in York where I began one on one tutoring people interested in SEO, and I also started doing SEO work for clients.
My travels around Europe consisted of my flatmate and I buying a cheap BMW off eBay and then driving it as far as it would go around Europe. This usually too us around 5000 miles, and to some fantastic places.
By this point I owned 50 of my own websites, and was earning around $200 to $300 a month passive, all from an hour or two after work.
In 2010 I moved to Austin, Texas, where I married my fantastic wife Jade, who writes over at My Vegan Planet (I am not a vegan, but she is, we just about work through that!). Over here I had to pay off the large expenses of immigration, and now have two clients, one where I am in charge of WordPress web design, where I primarily deal with cutting edge CSS3, jQuery and HTML5. I am still a learner in this field, though my CSS knowledge is now pretty in depth.
For my second Client I am doing SEO Work, but I have also been put head first in to an intensive learning curve on internet marketing, including PPC strategies and the like. This is interesting to me, but it is definitely hard work.
In my spare time I continue to try and build my website portfolio and my article spread, eventually hoping to have passive enough income to work full time on my own projects. I continue to tutor SEO at $25 an hour, and will do an on-site consultation for $35 an hour.
I have decided to cut back on some of my low profit websites, instead venturing more in to my high profit niches, and working to get this website (This is Freelance) off the ground. This website is my priority right now, and I really hope it becomes a success in the near future.
